History of The MemoMaid:

The inventors story.

It all started when I began my search for a note holder for my computer. I was working as a purchaser for a company, I would receive all kinds of post-it notes and had a hard time keeping track of them. I went looking for a note holder that I could put on the side of my monitor. I could not find anything suitable for my needs. All I wanted was something convenient to hold notes beside my screen. I did find a few designs they all seemed to be the alligator clip kind, poorly thought out and cheaply made.

Later on, I was at the pub with a few friends discussing the frustration of not finding a decent note holder, when I stated “I should make one.” A friend of mine Beth, said, “Why don't you make a decent document holder.”
Not being someone that has very good typing skills I did not know there was a problem with document holders too. I thought there were many different types and they seemed to look like they did the job. Beth emphatically expressed how they all sucked. How they were large space robbing hogs. Poorly designed and some even dangerous. I then asked her what would make it better.
For the next few months I researched what she said, to find out if she was correct or if it was just her quirk. What I found astounded me. After poling 100 offices I found out that 98% of office workers found document holders inconvenient to use and more bother than they were worth.

I then began to work on prototypes that fit the criteria, it had to be compact, convenient, easy to use and ergonomic. After a few months work out in the garage with pieces of plastic, a Dremmel and a blow torch I emerged with a very ugly working prototype.

The prototype was engineered into drawings, a mold was created.

At last emerged the finished product.

Testimony:

With limited hand mobility It was like a prayer answered to have a holder that doesn't have spring clips.

Thanks for such an easy to use tool
